Alexander McQueen- SS 2012

Sarah Burton took the McQueen woman on a royal bondage trip last season, and she returned to to that same idea for Spring. However, the one difference is that the look is much more romantic and light, but the strict elegance is all there. The color palette was gorgeous; white followed by gold, then there was silver and nude tones. Black and red also made dramatic appearances. There were tightly tailored suits and cocktail dresses, but the dramatic gowns were the real show-stoppers. Incredible pleating, beading and beautiful structuring gave the collection a very regal feeling. The face masks and headpieces which sometimes molded into the dress were also beautiful and almost extraterrestrial looking. I think Sarah Burton did an amazing job at keeping the McQueen DNA alive, but also creating new and mind-blowing beauty.
