Chanel- SS 2012
I was interested to see what Karl Lagerfeld would dream up for Chanel this season, and the set certainly created the mood. The Grand Palais was turned into an all white coral reef which meant Karl was going to explore one Chanel signature: the pearl. The looks were more constructed and had a wonderfully light quality to them. There was certainly a lot of creme and white, but there were also some shades of pale blue, green, pink, and black. Many of the dresses and Chanel tweed were sleek and had metallic or pearlescent detailing. The craftsmanship was so spectacular on some of the clothes that it was blending the line between ready-to-wear and couture. I enjoyed how some of the embellishments that seemed to move on the clothes gave the collection a much more aquatic feel. After so many shows this season, this was really a beautiful show because Lagerfeld really put a fresh perspective on a true Chanel signature.
