Yves Saint Laurent- SS 2012 Stefano Pilati has a lot on his plate right now because there are quite a few rumors that he might be replaced at YSL. However, today showed how brilliantly synchronized Pilati is with the house of Yves. The entire show was made up of shapes that are streamlined versions of couture silhouettes (many of which Yves coined). This sort of restrained elegance seemed quite seductive. The colors weren’t bad either; black and grey along with green, purple, pink, white, and blue. There were even some patterns like paisley in the collection. Most of these colors and patterns reminded me of vintage Yves though. The tailoring was quite sharp of course. The jumpsuits, jackets, and dresses were constructed perfectly. The materials were also well chosen, with cotton, thin wools, and silk. To compliment these perfect shapes, there were sharp, metallic shoes which were absolutely AMAZING. I think after seeing a collection like this, Yves Saint Laurent would be absolutely insane to let someone like Stefano go.
