Givenchy- SS 2012

Riccardo Tisci certainly did a 180 spin for his new collection for Givenchy today. Instead of the dark, oddly retro theme of Fall, Tisci did something softer, and dare I say, something more romantic and beautiful. The color palette certainly contained some black, but you mostly saw white, pale pink, pale blue and some deep greens. There was also an interesting focus on construction, quite a lot of this manifested itself in the decadent jackets or beautiful dresses. The embellishments were also quite luxurious; the beading was most apparent in the latter half of the collection where entire dresses and jackets were glittering. The collection still felt very powerful despite the new attitude, and the accessories like shark tooth pendants and spiked heels. I’m not sure what brought around this change of heart for the designer, but perhaps this was Riccardo’s most glorious ode to the femme fatale.
