Hermes- SS 2012 Christophe Lemaire is only into his second season at Hermes, but he already has developed a beautiful vision for the house. Today’s collection was modern and quiet, but it also had many vague global influences. Asia and Africa obviously had an impact on Lemaire since he incorporated so much tailoring that referenced the continents. The color palette was also noteworthy; the looks started with beautifully tailored white suits and dresses, and then crescendoed into Hermes orange which softened to brown. After this, some ethnic patterns emerged on some of the dresses, but the final climax was the many jewel-tones of purple, blue, green and black. The leather products were second-to-none (obviously). A gorgeous array of handbags, shoes and jackets will await the Hermes customer next Spring. Hopefully Christophe Lemaire continues this upward trend with the house because this new show displayed how artfully he could interpret Hermes and its heritage.
